Thursday, October 24, 2013: California Native Landscape Design, with Greg Rubin and Lucy Warren: Greg and Lucy will discuss their recently published book, The California Native Landscape: The Homeowner's Design Guide to Restoring Its Beauty and Balance. This book shows homeowners how to succeed with natives, and how lush, colorful, and thriving their landscapes can be. It stresses the importance of smart garden design and of combining the right plants to promote the natural symbiosis that occurs within plant communities, as well as attaining fire-resistant landscapes.

Greg Rubin is the owner of California's Own Native Landscape Design, and is a recognized leader in the field of native plant garden design, specializing in creating stable, sustainable, ornamental, low-input gardens with sutstantial habitat and wildlife value. Lucy Warren is a longtime regional garden writer in Southern California, having written for many local and national publications. She has also been editor of California Garden magazine. She is a life member of the San Diego Horticultural Society.
