Previous field trips of our chapter

Saturday, June 22, 2013, 10 a.m.: A rock-garden spectacle on the southwest side of Mt. Waterman: We'll start walking on the PCT and then continue on the trail around the southwest side of Mt. Waterman. We'll pass through an area burned by the Station Fire and on to a large seep that some of us call the Incense-Cedar Meadow. The flowers along the route are good this year, maybe because of the Station Fire. Leader Ginny Heringer (ginnyh AT ix DOT netcom DOT com, 626-793-4727) with Jane Tirrell as botanist.

Directions: Meet at 10 a.m. at the Three Points parking lot. Take Angeles Crest Highway (State Route 2) approximately 28 miles from La Cañada Flintridge past Newcomb's Ranch to mile marker 52.80. Turn left at the sign for Santa Clara Divide Road and then take an immediate left into the parking lot. An Adventure Pass is required for parking.

Other info: This outing is a hike of about 6 miles total (there and back) with a net elevation gain of around 1,200 ft. Bring lots of water, sunblock, hiking boots, and a hat (the trail doesn't have much shade and it may be hot,) and lunch for our break at the meadow.
