Why are we offering a plant walk at Santa Fe Dam (in Irwindale, CA) when we had one at the same location just a month ago? (Click here to see the announcement from the earlier outing.)
1. Things have changed: Some of the annuals, perennials, and shrubs have finished flowering while others are only now coming into flowering season. We also want to see how the fire recovery is progressing.
2. Some folks couldn't make it last time and would like another chance to see this natural gem of coastal sage scrub so close by.
3. The chapter is focusing on this area to keep the “Natural Area” natural. We want to help protect this habitat by further study and keeping the spread of invasive weeds in check. Look for more information and announcements on this subject in the near future.
