Previous field trips of our chapter

Sunday, March 19, 2017, 9:00 a.m.: Placerita Canyon: Grade: Easy to moderate. Leader: Katie Gallagher.

We will look at the effects of the Sand Fire and see some hardy early blooming chaparral plants such as ceanothus and California peony.

Directions: Coming from Pasadena or similar, take the 210 Freeway to the 5 Freeway to the 14 Freeway to Placerita Canyon Road. Turn right and proceed to the Placerita Canyon Nature Center. Depending on flowering conditions, we may go to a different trailhead nearby, but we will still meet at the Nature Center at 9:00 a.m. Bring water, lunch, sturdy walking shoes, and sun protection. Restrooms are available at the Nature Center when it opens at 9:00 a.m.
