Our chapter's general meeting on January 26 saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to two longstanding chapter members who are much loved and appreciated for their dedicated service to the chapter over many years.
Eva Morgan is well-known for her leadership of our monthly Sunday morning plant walks over a period of more than fifteen years, introducing many newcomers to the botany of the grounds surrounding the Eaton Canyon Nature Center. Eva was also a chapter board member throughout that period. Her enthusiasm and commitment to the chapter touched so many of us.
Mickey Long's contributions to the chapter are so numerous that we can mention only a few of them. As a founding member, he was one of those instrumental in establishing the chapter in 1984. He has served as both president and vice-president. Mickey has been a frequent and popular contributor to this newsletter over many years, and he was rare plant chair for almost the life of the chapter. He continues to be proactive in conservation issues.
The chapter is fortunate to have members such as Eva and Mickey. They make all the difference to what the chapter is, and what it achieves. It is with sincere gratitude that we recognize them both.
