Glendora Ridge Road, Spring 2013

See also the Glendora Ridge Road 2010 page.

Glendora Ridge Road is one of the best places to see spring wildflowers in southern Califronia. As a chapter, we last visited it in May 2010, so it was appropriate to visit it again in 2013. This was a much drier year than 2010, but nevertheless there was much to be seen.)

While the 2013 chapter was on June 1, two scouting trips occurred during the previous week. Most of the photos here are from the scouting trips.

Click here for a list of plants seen on the scouting trips and the official field trip.

A. Butterflies

What a joy to see so many butterflies. Most prevalent were the variable checkerspot and the lupine blue. They were feeding on almost every kind of flower, including the sedum, the yerba santa, and the yarrow.
