March 27, 2014: The Devils Gate Sediment Removal Project, with Mickey Long and Rebecca Shields Moose: The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, on behalf of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, has released its Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Devil's Gate Reservoir Sediment Removal and Management Project. The project aims to permanently remove 50 to 120 acres of Willow Woodlands and 2.4 to 4 million cubic yards of sediment from the Devil's Gate Reservoir, better known as the Hahamongna Watershed Park. The magnitude and impact of this undertaking is questioned by many thinkers in the community. This presentation will describe details of the project for the purpose of raising public awareness.

Mickey Long is a former Director of Eaton Canyon Nature Center, past president of Pasadena Audubon Society, and is vice-president of this CNPS chapter. Rebecca Shields Moose is Program Director of the Arroyo Seco Foundation.
